Rustic Cedar Cabin

Price: $48,750

Cedar Cabin

The Cabin was designed with the rural lot in mind. It is a small home that maximizes space through an open floor plan and well organized spaces. Its materials and method of construction emphasize durability and energy efficiency. The metal roof, generous overhangs and crawl space foundation will ensure the structure will stand the test of time against the elements. The shell is constructed from Structural Insulated Panels (SIP’s) which will provide super insulating qualities such that a wood burning stove may be the only required heat source. As with all of our designs the cabin may be modified to suit your needs.

Lifestyles 1370

Price: $184,950

Lifestyles 1370

There is a wide variety of window options for the view side available. The openness of the living area design in this series creates an extremely comfortable home where the cook can easily see and talk with people in the Living or Dining Room.

The entries for this series are all on the opposite side of the home from the view, thus allowing for hillside sites where basements are desirable. The sunken Living Room with its vaulted beam and deck ceiling is at the center of the plan while wings extend off each side of the core. The living area wing includes a kitchen with a snack bar open to the Dining/Family Room areas, while the other wing include a Master Suite (in larger plans) and one or two bedrooms.

These plans are very energy efficient due to layout where the majority of the windows are one side of the building and the medium pitched rooflines.

Contemporary Cedar Home

Price: $109,500

Contemporary Cedar Home

We started with a simple one story box and a generous living area that flows into the kitchen. Simple forms mean fewer corners allowing for cost efficient framing and minimal construction waste. An awning over the front door distinguishes the main entrance and can provide visual contrast if desired. The foundation of this design can be easily adapted to fit both sloped and flat sites. An entire wall of windows captures the views and brings them deep into the main living space. An excessive use of windows is one of the reasons modern design has been thought of as more expensive than traditional homes. High performance glazing is significantly more costly than walls and provides only a fraction of the insulation properties. This designs uses windows to maximize the views in the main living space while keeping the overall usage of windows in a budget responsible manner.

Dogtrot Ranch Cedar Home

Price: $150,000

Dogtrot Ranch Cedar Home

A dogtrot house historically consisted of two log cabins with a breezeway or dogtrot between them under a common roof. Typically one cabin was used for cooking and dining while the other is used for private living space such as bedrooms.

The breezeway through the center of the house is a unique feature, with rooms of the house opening into the breezeway. The breezeway provided a cooler covered area for sitting. The combination of the breezeway and open windows in the rooms of the house created air currents which pulled cooler outside air into the living quarters efficiently in the pre-air conditioning era.  Architects continue to build dogtrot houses using modern materials but maintaining the original design. As with all of our designs the dogtrot may be modified to suit your needs.
